Is designed to provide a structured, one-to-one relationship between a child or adolescent and an adult. Our mentoring service is a method of helping young individuals, particularly those "at risk." Individuals are guided and encouraged to make appropriate and realistic decisions and reach their full potential. The expectation of mentoring is for the individual to develop character, competency and confidence. Our mentors act as positive role models, trainers and teachers and over time, they become trusted support for the young individual. Like any healthy relationship, mentoring is based on mutual trust. Arms Reach believes that the two most important components are: (1) a strong infrastructure at the location (school, community center, agency, etc.) that embraces the program, and (2) reliable mentors with a genuine interest and commitment to change lives.
